We are a 100% volunteer-run camp and rely on our adult volunteers to support creating an enriching and safe experience for all of our campers and program aides. NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE OR KNOWLEDGE OF GIRL SCOUTS IS NECESSARY. Many of our volunteers are NOT Girl Scout leaders – all you need is the desire to be fully present with the girls and have fun!

Volunteering is Easy!

Why should you volunteer at Rainbow Adventure Day Camp?

  • One camper fee discount for registration for your camper.
  • Tagalong unit for pre-K children and boys to 5th grade of volunteers
  • For troop leaders, day camp is a great place to get new program ideas, learn new skills, and work with a different group of girls, or different grade-level of girls.
  • For moms of early-elementary campers, you can get to know our fabulous Program Aides and gain insights into the middle school and high school experience.
  • It’s rewarding to watch the campers gain confidence by trying new things, making new friends, and building on traditions.
  • IT’S FUN!!  Our Summer Camp offers a wide range of outdoor activities for kids to enjoy, including hiking, swimming, canoeing, and more. Our experienced staff will ensure that your child has a fun and safe time in the great outdoors.

How can I help?

Volunteer positions are available for supervising the units while Program Aides are leading activities, as well as planning and managing positions with camp.  We also have a health supervisor that requires a short online training provided by GSWW.

Usually girls are not placed in the same unit as a volunteer from their family, so that each girl and parent can go home telling their own amazing stories.

GSWW is also a non-profit that is eligible for corporate volunteer hour matching and donations.

Requirements

All positions require a background check (valid for two years) and a valid 2025-2026 membership in Girl Scouts of Western Washington. The annual membership fee ensures that you are covered by the Girl Scout liability insurance when you are volunteering at camp and includes a background check if you need it.

Before camp, we will have an online training and a couple in-person meetings to provide the information and guidance that is the foundation of a great camp experience for everyone.   These are mandatory meetings to ensure we have everyone prepared for camp and we get an early connection with our Program Aides.

Early May - Adult online training module available and will be sent out to registered volunteers
May 30, 9:30 - noon:  Adult/PA training together at a location in Kirkland
Sunday, July 6th, 3:00 - 4:30: School site overview.  Rose Hill Elementary, Kirkland WA 98033

 We’ll talk about:

  • The Girl Scout Leadership Experience - What is it, and how do we provide the experience at camp?
  • Working with Teens - Teen Program Aides are an integral part of our program! What can we do to help them learn and grow in their leadership while at camp?
  • Safety - What systems and procedures are in place to keep our campers and volunteers safe and secure?
  • Unit Management - What do you do with a gaggle of girls that you've just met?

How to register as a volunteer

Let us know you are interested!

Fill out the volunteer interest form to let us know what you are interested in!  We will reach out with a direct registration link for you and your campers, along with the discount code for being a volunteer.

Background check

If you are a current GSWW volunteer with a current background check, you are done!  If not, our registrar will reach out to assist in getting you signed up with GSWW which will initiate the background check.

What if my plans change?

If you are not able to fulfill your obligations as an adult volunteer, your camper could be unregistered and placed on the waitlist if they were signed up before general registration.  Special circumstances need to be approved by the camp director and camp registrar.  If you are unsure if you can volunteer, please wait until general registration to ensure your camper does not get bumped to the wait list!

Diversity and equity are core values of Girl Scouts of Western Washington. We aim to empower every Girl Scout-girls of every race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, ability, gender identity, religion, or geographic location-to make the world a better place. We also recognize that gender is not binary – people don’t identify only as boys or girls. We welcome children from across the gender spectrum: those who identify as transgender, agender, androgynous, etc., and those who are in transition or questioning their gender identity. Because the Girl Scout mission is to specifically hold space for Girl Scouts to build courage, confidence and character, Girl Scouts would not be an appropriate space for those who identify as cis gender boys (those whose gender identity is male and their assigned sex at birth is male).
