Program Aides are 7th-12th grade Girl Scouts (collectively referred to as PAs) who are developing leadership skills and confidence as they lead 1st-6th grade campers in all camp activities. Under the support and mentorship of adult volunteers, these teen Girl Scouts learn to communicate clearly, teach activities, and work to develop an understanding of the abilities and characteristics of younger campers. At camp, PAs lead either groups of younger campers (units) or activities such as crafts, outdoor skills, songs, games and more.

The Explorer program is for Girl Scouts entering 7th or 8th grade with no prior PA experience or training. The Explorer program teaches basic leadership skills while allowing scouts to also have some less structured fun. During camp, Explorers complete the PA Core Workshop, earn their Leadership in Action (LiA) Award, learn about leadership opportunities at camp, and plan a fun activity just for their group. Explorers must first register as campers and pay the $100 Explorer program fee. They do NOT attend pre-camp training.

The PAs who have completed their Explorer training, but have not yet worked at camp are called PA Apprentices. The PA Apprentices must also attend the new PA training (see date below), submit a PA application, and ask an unrelated adult to complete the online reference form.

The PAs help run our units and activities at camp. They work with their adult unit leaders to provide a fun and safe experience for the campers! PAs must submit a PA application. If it is the first year as PA at RADC, they must also submit a reference form.
We are looking for 5-8 PAs to participate in the steering committee. Interested individuals must be able to attend meetings (10-11:30am on 2/21, 3/7 and 4/4) and ideally the PA retreat on 3/28. In addition, steering committee members must be willing to bring ideas to the meetings, do work outside of the meetings, and add content to the committee’s shared documents. If you are interested, please complete this short Steering Committee Application and we will be in touch by 2/9 to confirm your spot on the committee.
All PA’s must complete the online PA application by 2/7/26. Once that is complete, PA Advisor will email a link to register. There is no fee for the PA registration, but it must be completed by a parent/caregiver
If this is your first year as a PA at camp, please request an unrelated adult, such as a troop leader or teacher, to complete the reference form. Reference forms are due by 2/10/26.

We strive to provide a leadership development program that teaches Girl Scouts of all abilities how to work with younger campers as positive role-models. We understand that Girl Scouts come to the program with a variety of skills and experience, and we want to help every Girl Scout meet their leadership goals and potential. We will do our best to provide leadership development to all Girl Scouts who are truly motivated to work with younger girls.

Diversity and equity are core values of Girl Scouts of Western Washington. We aim to empower every Girl Scout-girls of every race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, ability, gender identity, religion, or geographic location-to make the world a better place. We also recognize that gender is not binary – people don’t identify only as boys or girls. We welcome children from across the gender spectrum: those who identify as transgender, agender, androgynous, etc., and those who are in transition or questioning their gender identity. Because the Girl Scout mission is to specifically hold space for Girl Scouts to build courage, confidence and character, Girl Scouts would not be an appropriate space for those who identify as cis gender boys (those whose gender identity is male and their assigned sex at birth is male).
