The Assistant Director’s role is to assist the Director with development and implementation of a day camp program. This role is meant to be to shadow and learn from the current director so the person can take over director position the following year.
Day Camp Assistant Director is a one-year commitment, but its preferable to have someone who can learn from a previous director and stay in assistant or director role for at least 2 years. You can expect to provide a minimum of 60 hours of service, depending on the needs of the day camp. The service hours will be spread out over a planning and preparation period leading up to the opening of day camp in addition to the expectation that the Assistant Director be present for the duration of the camp.
The assistant day camp director will have the full support of the Director and the leadership team in learning how camp runs and with the tasks they are delegated.

Diversity and equity are core values of Girl Scouts of Western Washington. We aim to empower every Girl Scout-girls of every race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, ability, gender identity, religion, or geographic location-to make the world a better place. We also recognize that gender is not binary – people don’t identify only as boys or girls. We welcome children from across the gender spectrum: those who identify as transgender, agender, androgynous, etc., and those who are in transition or questioning their gender identity. Because the Girl Scout mission is to specifically hold space for Girl Scouts to build courage, confidence and character, Girl Scouts would not be an appropriate space for those who identify as cis gender boys (those whose gender identity is male and their assigned sex at birth is male).
